Important Phishing Facts to Keep in Mind

Our company name is Points South.
In all correspondence, from e-mail to paper mailings, we refer to ourselves as Points South. Although our domain name is psouth.net, we never refer to our company as "Psouth". Phishers usually taylor their e-mails to the domain name, so you will see phrases like "Dear Psouth users" or "We have lost your Psouth password". Failure to refer to ourselves properly is an indicator of foul play.

We control your password.
We will never, ever, ever contact you to ask for your password. Not through the phone, not through e-mail. No matter how legitimate the excuse may sound, such as "our database got corrupted", we will not ask for your password. If there is a password issue (such as an account getting compromised or an actual database corruption, which is unlikely), we will change it and then tell you what we changed it to.

Call us back.
From time to time, we do contact our customers with regards to sensitive information, such as verifying a billing address or account information. If someone contacts you and you doubt the legitimacy of the call, you should initiate contact with us. Call us at 490.4949 or toll-free at +1.866.490.0100 so you can be certain you are talking with a Points South representative. As we are open 7 days a week and since humans answer the phone when you call, contacting us is always easy.
Do not let someone who calls you tell you that our toll-free number has changed, do not let them give you a number to call. Points South representatives are friendly and understand your need for safety, we will not EVER pressure you into giving away information when we call.
We do not experience problems with our toll-free number or receiving in-bound calls on our phone system. These are all tactics by phishers to prevent you from hanging up.
YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CALL US BACK. In fact, we encourage it. If the person you're talking to is trying to keep you from hanging up, you are talking to a phisher.

Our e-mail addresses are on our homepage.
In fact, all our contact information is. Phishers will frequently try to get you to call a number that isn't ours or send information to an e-mail address that isn't ours. We do not have any contact addresses that are outside the psouth.net domain. It is inconceivable that we would be unable to collect mail sent to connect@psouth.net and there is no reason we would ask our clients to send information to a GMail address or any other non-psouth.net address. Our two primary e-mail contact addresses are connect@psouth.net for general issues and billing@psouth.net for billing issues. Each of our staff members has their own personal e-mail address, however, so you may see other addresses show up in correspondence. As always, if you have any question as to a legitimate e-mail, contact our office directly.
